History
After the close of the National Education Center's Institute of Technology in Anaheim, the institute's Administrator/Chief Instructor had a vision of establishing a college that would build a reputation based on the finest educational standards. He, along with a team of instructors with extensive experience in post secondary career education at NATTS accredited degree-granting schools, wrote and constructed the curricula for the first program offering.
- 1987 - SCIT Established. First Program was Electronics/Computer Technology
- 1988 - Donations from McDonald Douglas (mainly computer equipment)
- 1992 - Became ISCET certification center (International Society of Certifying Electronic Technicians)
- Early 1993 - Expanded to a new campus location
- May 1994 - Approved by the U.S. Department of Justice to admit foreign students
- Dec 1994 - Accredited by ACCSC (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges)
- Apr 1995 - Approved to offer Associate of Applied Science in Robotics & Electronics Engineering Technology (First approved associates degree
- Aug 1996 - Approved to offer Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology (First Bachelors Degree program)
- 1997 - Donation from Rockwell (Robotic equipment)
- Nov 1998 - Approved to offer Associate of Arts in Computerized Business Technology (First Business Degree)
- Dec 2002 - Approved to Offer BS in Computer Science and AS in Computer Science (First Computer Science Degree Programs)
- 2003 - Became an approved NARTE testing center for FCC. (National Association of Radio and Telecommunications Engineers http://www.narte.org/)
- Mar 2005 - Approved to Offer BS Accounting and BS Business Managements (First Bachelors Degree for Business Programs)
- July 2007 - Moved to our new and current campus
- Apr 2008 - Approved to offer Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (our most recent degree program)
Today, SCIT continues its original mission. Over the last 20 years, we've gained a reputation in the community for providing quality education.
