Entrance Requirements

To qualify for admission into Southern California Institute of Technology, an individual must:

  • Complete an Application for Admissions (Completed at the Admissions Office)
  • Pass a standardized entrance exam given at SCIT
  • Complete an interview and tour the facilities
  • Be at least 17 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma, General Equivalency Certificate (G.E.D.), or Demonstrate Ability to Benefit.*

*High School Diploma or General Equivalency Certificate (G.E.D.) is required for admission into a Degree Program. If you do not have a High School Diploma or G.E.D., or want more information about Ability to Benefit, please contact the Admissions Office to learn about your options. Please Note: Applicants not seeking a Degree or Diploma but wishing to take individual courses must meet the same admissions requirements as those applying for a regular program.

Admissions Application

All applicants must first complete an admissions application form, which includes standard questions (i.e. name, age, etc.), as well as, questions about the applicants educational background. Applications can be completed at the Admissions Office during their normal operating hours and takes only a few minutes. Applications are accepted on a continual basis. To expedite the application process, it may be helpful for applicants to bring an official High School transcript or have available the contact information of the high school they attended.

Entrance Exam

SCIT administers its own entrance exam to assess an applicants knowledge of foundational material expected from all incoming students. The exam has two (2) parts, verbal and math, which are all multiple choice questions (there is no essay). Students will have one (1) hour to complete the exam, which is administered at SCIT. The exam is administered on a continual basis; please contact the Admissions Office for dates and times when you can take the exam. If you would like more information about the material covered on the exam and resources to practice for the exam, please contact the Admissions Office.

Interview & Tour

All applicants will have an opportunity to meet and interview with an Admissions Representative for approximately one (1) hour during the application process. They will also be given a tour of the classrooms, campus and instructional labs. The purpose of the interview is for us to inform you about the educational opportunities SCIT offers and for you to inform us about your academic goals. Our goal is that after the interview you will have sufficient information about our programs so that you can knowledgably decide if SCIT meets your academic goals. In addition, we will assess whether you will benefit from our programs and contribute positively to our campus community. The qualities we seek in applicants are: commitment to their education, motivation to make a positive change in their lives and communities, and want to learn by doing.
