Biomedical Engineering Degree Program

SCIT's Biomedical Engineering program introduces students to the medical applications of engineering. Courses branch out from firm foundations in electronics and mathematics to concentrate on the key fields of Biomedical Engineering such as BioMechanics, BioImaging, BioMaterials, and Medical Instrumentation Design. The program aims to provide students with a diverse engineering background to enable them to succeed in Biomedical Engineering related fields.

Degree Title: Bachelor of Science Biomedical Engineering
Credits: 180 Units

Solid Engineering Foundation

Biomedical Engineering is a cross between engineering and biological sciences; however SCIT's program focuses primarily on the engineering aspects of the field. Students begin by building a strong engineering foundation from the basics. Principles of electricity, digital, and analog circuitry concepts along with solid mathematical foundations will be the building blocks for successful understanding of biomedical engineering applications extending to digital signal processing, Matlab computer programming, and Medical Instrumentation Design.

Applied Theory

Engineering is an applied science, key term: Applied. Theoretical concepts discussed in lecture are cemented through application based labs to show students the practical elements of biomedical theory. Due to a significant portion of the program containing lab work, students will be working in a variety of SCIT's instructional lab facilities, from the Biomedical Lab to the Robotics & Automation Lab.
